CHEATS / A LITTLE HELP, WHEN YOU WANT IT

Using Cheats & Gameshark Codes

Add your own codes, switch them on and off, and keep a separate list for every game. Here is exactly how the cheats screen works.

ONE CODE
PER LINE.
01 / OPEN IT

Two ways in.

Cheats are always one tap away during play.

A

The gameplay bar

Tap Cheats on the bar under the screen, next to Save, Fast and Controls.

B

The pause menu

Press Menu, then choose Cheats next to Game Settings.

Can't see the Cheats button? It can be hidden. Turn Show cheats button back on under Settings → Touch controls.

02 / ADD A CODE

Name it. Paste it.
Save it.

  1. 01

    Tap Add Cheat

It sits at the bottom of the cheats list.

  2. 02

    Name it (optional)

A name you will recognise. If you skip it, the app calls it “Untitled cheat”.

  3. 03

    Enter the code

One code per line. Codes pasted as 16 characters with no space are accepted too.

  4. 04

Leave the type on Auto Detect

Or pick a specific type if you know it.

  5. 05

    Tap Save Cheat

The emulation core checks every line. If one is not recognised, the cheat is not saved and you will see an error.

03 / CODE TYPES

Which formats can you use?

The list depends on the game's system. Pick a system to see it.

  • Auto DetectThe core works out the format from the code itself. Start here.
  • GameSharkAvailable on every system.
  • Action ReplayGBA only.
  • CodeBreakerGBA only.

GameShark, Action Replay, CodeBreaker and Game Genie are trademarks of their owners, named here only to describe common code formats. This site is not affiliated with them.

04 / MANAGE THEM

Switch, edit, delete.

Try the switches. They work like the real ones.

  • 01

    On and off

Each cheat has its own switch. Enabled cheats apply straight away while you play. Disabled ones stay in the list.

  • 02

    Edit

Tap a cheat to change its name, code or type.

  • 03

    Delete

Remove a cheat any time. The app asks you to confirm first.

  • 04

    Per game

Every game keeps its own list on your device. Cheats are not stored inside Quick Saves or automatic saves.

05 / WHEN A CODE IS REJECTED

“This cheat code could not be recognized.”

Try the right type

Switch to Auto Detect, or choose the format the code was written for.

Check every line

One bad line rejects the whole cheat. Look for typos, missing characters and stray spaces.

Match the system

A GBA code will not work on a GB or GBC game, and the type list differs by system.

Match the game

A code made for another game or version may be accepted but do nothing, or misbehave.

06 / USE CHEATS SAFELY

Little habits that save you.

  1. 01

    Quick Save first

Take a checkpoint before you turn a cheat on, so you can go back.

  2. 02

    Export your save

Keep a copy of the game's own save file before experimenting.

  3. 03

    One at a time

Add and enable codes one by one so you know which one caused a problem.

CHEATS / QUICK ANSWERS

Good to
know.

All cheats questions
Where do I get cheat codes?
We do not provide or host codes for specific commercial games. Use codes you already have, and make sure they were made for your game and its version.
Can cheats affect my save?
Cheats change what the game does while they are on. If you save inside the game while a cheat is active, the result can end up in the game's own save. Take a Quick Save and export your save before experimenting.
Do GB and GBC games support cheats?
Yes. For GB and GBC games the type list is Auto Detect, GameShark and Game Genie.
Are cheats shared between games?
No. Each game has its own cheat list, kept on your device.

No code database. We do not provide or host cheat codes for specific commercial games. Cheats are for codes you already have.
